The Promise of God Foretold - God's Plan From The Beginning
INTRODUCTION: The Long-Awaited Rescue
Imagine a master craftsman who begins carving a magnificent piece of art. Every stroke, every detail, every hidden line has purpose. But the villagers who pass by the workshop only see wood chips and dust. They wonder, “Is anything really happening?” Yet the craftsman knows—what they cannot yet see, he is already shaping.
So, it is with God’s redemptive plan.
Long before a manger in Bethlehem, long before an angel appeared to Mary, long before shepherds heard angels sing, God was already carving out His plan of salvation. What looked to humanity like silence…was sovereignty. What seemed like delay…was divine preparation.
Christmas is not the beginning of the story. It is the revelation of a plan older than time, a plan announced in Eden, echoed by prophets, and fulfilled in Christ.
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
This was not a last-minute rescue. This was His plan from the beginning.
3-FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS THAT REVEAL GOD’S ETERNAL PURPOSE
1. THE PROMISE OF HOPE:
a. God declared VICTORY in the Garden of Eden.
b. The first glimpse of the GOSPEL appears not in Matthew or Luke, but in Genesis 3:15.
c. Immediately after the FALL, God speaks to the serpent:
i. Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it
shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
2. THE PRECISION OF PROPHECY:
a. Every Detail of this WORK was ORCHESTRATED by God.
b. The birth of Jesus was not RANDOM.
c. It fulfilled hundreds of Old Testament PROPHECIES, each one like a THREAD woven through history.
3. THE PERSEVERANCE OF GOD’S PLAN:
a. Nothing Could Stop REDEMPTION.
b. Throughout history, Satan attempted repeatedly to DERAIL God’s PLAN:
i. Pharaoh tried to kill Hebrew babies.
ii. Athaliah attempted to wipe out the royal line of David.
iii. Haman plotted genocide.
iv. Herod slaughtered infants to eliminate the Christ-child.
c. Yet through every attempt…God PRESERVED His PROMISE.
