Stand Firm In The Faith

INTRODUCTION: MEN, imagine a STORM is coming, a flood so strong it threatens to sweep away your home. You’re given SANDBAGS, but you can’t just toss them around. You must stack them with CARE, build them HIGH, and STAND behind that WALL when the water rises.

That’s what it means to STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH. Life throws storms at us, TEMPTATION, CULTURAL PRESSURE, OPPOSITION, FEAR, and if we don’t BUILD a WALL of FAITH, rooted in God’s Word, we’ll be swept away. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 are a call to men: “Watch, STAND FAST, be strong, do it all in love.”

TODAY, I want to unpack what REAL BIBLICAL MANHOOD looks like when we STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH.

3-PLATFORMS THAT BIBLICAL MEN CAN PLANT THEIR FEET ON AND STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH

1. MEN, WE MUST STAND FIRM IN GOD’S WORD

a. The BIBLE is not just a BOOK, it’s a FOUNDATION, a GUIDE, and a WEAPON.

i.    Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

b. Jesus Himself, when TEMPTED in the wilderness, STOOD FIRM by quoting Scripture.

2. MEN, WE MUST STAND FIRM DESPITE OPPOSITION

a. STANDING FIRM is not for COWARDS.

i. Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the

evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

b. Paul WARNS us, “the evil day” WILL COME.

i.    SPIRITUAL WARFARE is REAL.

        ii.    OPPOSITION is REAL.

        iii.    MEN of FAITH don’t CRUMBLE when CHALLENGED.

c. They PLANT their FEET like SOLDIERS in FORMATION.

3. MEN, WE MUST STAND FIRM WITH OTHER BELIEVERS

a. Paul reminds US: MEN don’t FIGHT this fight ALONE.

i. Philippians 1:27 “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come

and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind

striving together for the faith of the gospel.”

b. LONE RANGERS are DEAD RANGERS.

c. Even Jesus sent His disciples out TWO BY TWO.

i. Mark 6:7 “And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave

them power over unclean spirits;”
