Next Part 2 - A Bold New Community
INTRODUCTION: The birth of the Church wasn’t just about individual transformation; it was the formation of a Spirit-filled community that lived, worshipped, and grew together in UNITY.
In Acts 2:42–47, we see a powerful picture of what happened NEXT—after the Holy Spirit fell, after thousands believed, and after hearts were set on fire. The early believers didn’t scatter into isolated spiritual journeys; instead, they came TOGEHTER in bold, radical community.
They devoted themselves to teaching, shared meals and resources, prayed with passion, and experienced the awe of God's presence daily. This wasn’t just a moment in history, it was a model for what the Church is called to be: a UNIFIED, GENEROUS, WORSHIPPING, and GROWING BODY that reflects the heart of Jesus to the world.
THE 3-FACETS OF A SPIRIT-FILLED CHURCH
I. A PASSIONATE PURSUIT
a. A Spirit-filled church PASSIONATELY PURSUES God, community, and mission with intentional devotion.
i. Acts 2:42 "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."
II. A GENEROUS GRACE
a. A Spirit-filled church engages in radical GENEROSITY, not because it is COMMANDED by the LAW, but because it was COMPELLED by GRACE.
i. Acts 2:44 45 "And all that believed were together and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need."
I. A DAILY DIFFERENCE
a. A Spirit-filled church practices making A DAILY DIFFERENCE. This means that the PRESENCE and POWER of Jesus reshaped every ordinary day.
i. Acts 2:46 47 "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house...praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."
