Joy flows from who Christ is, not from what life brings.

Outline:

I. Joy Despite Confinement (vv. 12–14)

Paul’s imprisonment advanced the gospel rather than hindered it.

II. Joy Despite Critics (vv. 15–18)

Even wrong motives could not rob Paul of joy when Christ was preached.

III. Joy Despite Uncertainty (vv. 19–21)

Paul lived with eternal perspective: Christ in life, Christ in death.

Application:

Stop tying joy to outcomes.

Anchor joy in Christ’s unchanging nature.
