Occasion: Easter Sunday


Sermon Big Idea:

The King who rode in humility rose in power—proving He is not

only King, but Savior over sin, death, and the grave.


I. The Reality of the Resurrection (vv. 1–4)

“There was a great earthquake…”

● Supernatural event

● Angelic announcement

● Empty tomb


Key Truth:

The resurrection is not symbolic—it is historical and literal.


Application:

Your faith stands or falls on the reality of the resurrection.


II. The Reassurance of the Angel (vv. 5–6)

“Fear not ye…He is not here: for he is risen…”

● Fear replaced with faith

● Death replaced with hope

● The grave defeated


Application:

What you fear most has already been conquered by Christ.


III. The Response of the Followers (vv. 7–8)

“Go quickly, and tell his disciples…”

● Immediate obedience

● Mixture of fear and great joy

● Urgency in sharing the message


Application:

The resurrection is not just to be believed—it is to be shared.


IV. The Revelation of the Savior (vv. 9–10)

“All hail…they held him by the feet, and worshipped him”

● Personal encounter with the risen Christ

● Worship becomes the only response

● Relationship replaces religion
