The Promise of the Tithe
INTRODUCTION: Kick-Off Analogy: The Divine Return Policy
Imagine walking into a store with a “guaranteed return” policy. Whatever you give to them, they VOW to give back MORE, and BETTER, than what you handed over. No RISK. No FINE PRINT. No GIMMICKS.
In the ECONOMY of HEAVEN, God has a “RETURN POLICY” better than anything on Earth. But His PROMISE is tied to one word: OBEDIENCE. The TITHE is not a spiritual investment scam, nor a “holy lottery ticket.” It is a FAITH TRANSACTION, a HEART that says, “Lord, I trust You more than I trust my wallet.” A.W. Tozer said: “God never USES a man GREATLY until he TESTS him DEEPLY.” And MONEY is one of God’s favorite TESTS, because it reveals TRUST, OBEDIENCE, and PRIORITIES like NOTHING else.
As we continue this series, today we see The Promise of the Tithe, God’s GUARANTEE to the OBEDIENT giver.
SCRIPTURE: Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
3-PROMISES OF THE TITHE
I. GOD’S PROMISE OF PROVISION
a. God PROMISES to SUPPLY ALL your NEEDS.
i. Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
b. Paul reminds the Philippians, who were FAITHFUL GIVERS, that God takes personal RESPONSIBILITY for
the NEEDS of those who put Him FIRST.
II. GOD’S PROMISE OF PLENTY
a. God doesn’t just MANIFEST what you NEED, He also MULTIPLIES what you NEED.
i. 2 Corinthians 9:6–8 “He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully
shall reap also bountifully… God loves a cheerful giver.”
b. Paul uses the LAW of SOWING and REAPING. You REAP in PROPORTION to how you SOW.
III. GOD’S PROMISE OF PEACE
a. The last PROMISE of the TITHE is a PROMISE OF PEACE because the God that SUPPLY’S and MULTIPLIES
is the same God that SATISFIES.
i. Proverbs 3:9–10 “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So,
shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
b. To honor the Lord with our substance means to give Him the FIRST and the BEST, not LEFTOVERS.
